Shell we go to Destin, FL – watercolor

Well to celebrate my wife’s 29th birthday… again, we took a quick trip to Destin Florida, and once again, loved it! Although we didn’t get to stay long, we once again met some of the most wonderful people. A retired teacher hit it off instantly with my wife and from that point on the two could be found frequently on a sand bar, sitting on their beach chairs, and giggling and chatting (like teachers do). She was with her husband, visiting from Tennessee and were a delight to be around. We got such a kick out of her by the end of the trip I painted a behind view of her, with her floppy beach hat, while sitting in her colorful beach chair, on a beach sand bar with a sunset in front of her. unfortunately, I didn’t get a scan or picture of it before they left, but it was a pleasure to give it to her and see the happiness it brought her. I hope for good health, happiness to both of them, and many travels and adventures along their path. Thanks Carlita

This watercolor painting was painted on the beach, and again with the salted ocean waters of Destin, Florida. The salt in the water gives a slight texture but will have a part of Florida with it forever.

Again, if you see an artist along the wonderful beaches of Florida, or along a country road or barn in southern Indiana, make sure to come up and say hello, it might just be me!
I’ll be the one with slightly balding (okay more than balding slightly), peppered black and white hair, more and more wrinkles, and usually with my beautiful wife next to me or out near on a sand bar!!!

  1. Fantastic painting and a great story too! I love those kind of serendipitous encounters.

    • it’s a blast meeting new friends, and finding wonderful little stories behind them. For years I was so shy I wouldn’t have said a word to anyone, but now that has all changed and glad of it. Thanks!

  4. My mother and sister were teachers. Their openness and adventurous spirits always led to special experiences. My mother ran into friends while we were on vacation in London and again about 10 years later when we were on vacation in Spain. What are the chances!!!???? Wonderful watercolor. It glows.
